Congressman Pete Gallego tours Eagle Pass Port of Entry

Congressman Pete P. Gallego of the 23rd Texas Congressiional District toured the Eagle Pass, Texas Port of Entry on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 8:00 a.m. hosted by United States Customs and Border Protection Eagle Pass Port Director Cynthia Rodriguez and Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu.
Congressman Gallego stated it was important for him to learn and hear from his constituents within the district to better serve and represent them in Washington, D. C. Gallego said he is doing a 10 day tour of the large 23 rd Congressional District with his staff to personally meet the people, businesses, and organizations within the expansive district which covers from Maverick County to West Texas to El Paso and Hudspeth County to San Antonio and Bexar County, including over 800 miles of the United States-Mexico border.
Congressman Gallego was welcomed by USCBP Port Director Cynthia Rodriguez, received a briefing of the needs of the Eagle Pass Port of Entry, and given a personal tour of the operations of the Eagle Pass Port Camino Real International Bridge No. 2 by Rodriguez.
Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu also briefed Congressman Gallego on the City of Eagle Pass’needs and concerns regarding international commerce and municipal and federal relations.
Congressman Gallego thanked the citizens of Maverick County for their loyal support of him during his public service as a former State Representative and now as a United States House of Representative.
Following Congressman Gallego’s tour of the Eagle Pass Port of Entry, Mayor Cantu hosted Gallego and his wife, Maria Elena Ramon, and son, Nicholas, and his Congressional staff to breakfast at local restaurant.
