Dead Body with Gunshot Wound to the Head found in the Rio Grande River at Eagle Pass

A lifeless male body was found approximately two miles north of Eagle Pass, Texas, in the Hopedale area of Maverick County on the banks of the Rio Grande River on Thursday, January 31, 2013. The body of the dead person was located on the United States side of the Rio Grande river and the proper authorities were dispatched to retrieve the body and begin an investigation to identify the deceased and establish what happened to this individual who was found with a gunshot wound to the cranium of his head.

The Maverick County Sheriff Department and the United States Border Patrol retrieved the body and opened an investigation. The deceased body was transported to the Laredo, Texas Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to be performed.

The identity and citizenship of the deceased is unknown as of this time.
