Maverick County Judge David Saucedo appointed and swore-in Dora Madera, former Secretary of Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 Teresa Melendrez, as Interim Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. at the Maverick County Courthouse after the State Commission on Judicial Conduct temporarily suspended Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Cesar Perez as a result of being indicted on December 14, 2012, for engaging in an organized criminal activity and theft by a public servant.
In appointing Madera as Interim Justice of the Peace Precinct 2, County Judge David Saucedo stated “if anyone knows the duties of a Justice of the Peace is Dora Madera who has served six years as secretary of Judge Tere Melendrez of Precinct 4 and she ran for the position recently and came in as the top two vote getter.”

Judge Saucedo stated that Madera will serve as Interim Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 until Judge Cesar Perez completes his pending criminal case and the State Commission on Judicial Conduct issues a further order.
Newly-appointed and sworn-in Interim Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Dora Madera thanked County Judge David Saucedo for his trust and confidence in her to perform the duties of the position and looks forward to serving the citizens of Maverick County, particularly of Precinct 2.
