Dr. Roberto R. Calderon to receive NACCS Premio Estrella de Aztlan Lifetime Achievement Award

Native Eagle Passan, Dr. Roberto R. Calderon, has been selected as the recipient of the 2013 National Association of Chicana and Chicano Studies (NACCS)-Tejas Foco-Premio Estrella de Aztlan Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest honor and recognition the national academic association bestows on a member, announced Antonia I. Castaneda, Chair of the NACCS Tejas Committee, Premio Estrella de Aztlan Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dr. Calderon will be presented his Premio Estrella de Aztlan Lifetime Achievement Award at the 22nd Annual NACCS Tejas Conference on Friday, February 22, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. at the University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg, Texas.
Dr. Calderon is an Associate Professor at the University of North Texas at Denton, Texas in the Department of History. He is a 1974 graduate of Eagle Pass High School, received a Bachelor of Art degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and earned both a Master of Art and a Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
Dr. Calderon was born and raised in Eagle Pass and is the son of the late Vicente and Laura Z. Calderon.
