Justice Patricia O. Alvarez Sworn-In January 16th
Newly-elected State of Texas Fourth Court of Appeals Justice Patricia O. Alvarez of Laredo, Texas was sworn-in as the newest Associate Justice of the prestigious Fourth Court of Appeals of San Antonio, Texas, on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Maverick County Historical Courthouse, located at 501 East Main Street, in Eagle Pass, Texas, by 293rd Judicial District Court Judge Cynthia Muñiz and robed by 365th Judicial District Court Judge Amado Abascal, III.
Also participating in the historic swearing-in ceremony of Justice Alvarez were Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English-Cantu, Maverick County Judge David Saucedo, State Representative Alfonso “Poncho” Nevarez, Felipe Hernandez, President of the Maverick County Bar Association, family members of Justice Alvarez, and local citizens and civic leaders.
“Justice Alvarez chose to be sworn-in as the newest justice of the Fourth Court of Appeals in Eagle Pass in appreciation of Eagle Pass and Maverick County’s contribution to her election and personal life,” said Felipe Hernandez, President of the Maverick County Bar Association. Justice Alvarez was born in Mexico City, Mexico and entered the United States of America through Eagle Pass as a legal resident. She went on to live in San Antonio, Texas, where she raised a family and attended the University of Texas at San Antonio earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen.
She attended the University of Texas at Austin School of Law earning a Juris Doctor degree and became a licensed attorney in Texas. She has had a brilliant legal practice and now looks foward to serving the citizens of the State of Texas as a jurist and justice of Texas’ Fourth Court of Appeals in San Antonio, serving 32 counties adjacent and near Bexar County and South Texas, including Maverick County.
Justice Patricia O. Alvarez thanked the citizens of Maverick County for supporting her and fulfilling her dream to become a judge.
