Maverick County Justice of the Peace Cesar Perez & Elisa Martinez arrested

Maverick County Justice of the Peace of Precinct 2, Cesar Perez, and his former secretary, Elisa Martinez, were arrested today, Friday, January 11, 2013, by Maverick County Sheriff Department Deputies on a Maverick County Grand Jury Criminal Indictment issued on December 14, 2012, charging them with engaging in organized criminal activity and theft by a public servant.
In an earlier article first reported by the Eagle Pass Business Journal, Perez and Martinez are charged together with Martha Zamarripa, also a former secretary of Judge Perez, of violating state laws pursuant to the Texas Penal Code by the Office of the Attorney General of Texas. The criminal indictment was filed in the 365 th Judicial District Court of Maverick County before the Honorable Amado Abascal, III.
Based on credible sources, Zamarripa is expected to turn herself in later on tonight or tomorrow, Saturday, January 12th, with the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department.
Both Judge Perez and Martinez were processed after their arrests and released on a bond of $12,000 each, respectively.Perez was arrested at his home and Martinez was arrested at her workplace the Tom Bowles Detention Center where she is employed as a jailer.
