Mexico City, Mexico–More than 100 persons have been injured and at least 25 fatalities have been reported at the Petroleo Mexicanos (PEMEX) headquarters tower arising from an explosion which rocked Building B2 at approximately 3:55 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013.
The PEMEX tower explosion has mobilized the Mexican Red Cross, Mexico City Emergency Protection, and the state-runned PEMEX Civil Protection Rescue Team.
The tower explosion and fire stunned Mexicans enjoying a beautiful and normal business day in the world’s largest city.
The PEMEX tower has been evacuated to avoid greater injuries and casualties from any potential subsequent explosions and/or fires.
Preliminary investigation reports point out that the explosion may have originated in the giant air conditioning system of the skyscraper building housing the Mexican Petroleum headquarters.
