Only in America can a young man from rural West Texas grow up to become a revered State Representative for over 20 years in the State of Texas and win election to the United States House of Representatives on his first attempt unseating an incumbent Republican Tea Party Congressman, Francisco Canseco, while living the American Dream like Pete P. Gallego.
Pete P. Gallego was officially sworn-in as the newest member to the U.S. House of Representatives (Congress) representing the vast and cavernous Texas’ 23rd Congressional District stretching from southern El Paso to West Texas to San Antonio to the U.S.-Mexico border at Eagle Pass on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
“I still can’t believe that I am now a member of Congress and have an office in Washington, D.C. to represent the citizens of the 23rd Congressional District,” said newly sworn-in Congressman Pete P. Gallego. “I am dedicating my first week in Congress to my deceased father who was instrumental in instilling upon me the values and morals which guide me as a person and public servant. How I wish he would be here with me on this date to share this American Dream with me. I am blessed to have my mother, wife, son, family members, friends, and constituents to share this important day in my life. I genuinely thank the voters of the 23rd Congressional District for allowing me to represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives,” said Congressman Gallego.
Congressman Gallego will represent Eagle Pass and Maverick County in the U.S. House of Representatives as well as over 800 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border.
