PFC Angelica Mijares graduates from U.S. Marine Corps’ Boot Camp & Infantry School

The honor and privilege to serve the United States of America in its elite U.S. Marine Corps inspired Angelica Mijares to enlist in the prestigious military unit known as the “First to Fight.”
Angelica Mijares graduated in December of 2012 from the U.S. Marine Corps’School of Infantry at Camp Geiger in North Carolina where she was promoted from Private to Private First Class (PFC) upon her successful completion of the four weeks advanced and intensive infantry training.
Prior to PFC Angelica Mijares’ graduation from the U.S. Marine Corps’ School of Infantry, she also successfully completed and graduated from the U.S. Marine Corps 13 weeks rigorous Boot Camp at MCRD Parris Island in North Carolina.
PFC Angelica Mijares has been assigned her Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) as a Field Wireman and will report to duty this coming week to Twenty-Nine Palms, California where she will attend and receive training as a Field Wireman. Upon her completion of her Field Wireman, PFC Mijares will receive her first tour of duty, which could be anywhere in the world.
PFC Angelica Mijares is currently visiting her mother, Maria Angelica Mijares, and family in Eagle Pass, Texas before reporting to her next assignment at Twenty-Nine Palms, California. She is enjoying visiting her mother, step-father, sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends in Eagle Pass.
PFC Angelica Mijares is a 2012 graduate of Lufkin High School in Lufkin, Texas. Her mother and sister moved to Eagle Pass to be closer to their family. She is also the daughter of Saul Mijares, Jr. of Shawnee, Oklahoma and formerly of Lufkin, Texas.
PFC Angelica Mijares was inspired by U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Griselda Benavides, also of Eagle Pass, who is currently working as a Recruiter for the U.S. Marine Corps in Laredo, Texas.
PFC Angelica Mijares plans to serve the United States of America for four years in the U.S. Marine Corps and plans to attend college and pursue an education upon her completion of military service. She hopes to serve as a role model to her younger sister, Jennifer Mijares, a junior at C.C. Winn High School, as well as young ladies.
PFC Angelica Mijares personally visited the offices of the Eagle Pass Business Journal and presented the Eagle Pass Business Journal with an authentic U.S. Marine Corps coffee cup and beer mug. She enjoys keeping up with Eagle Pass community news through the Eagle Pass Business Journal website, Facebook, and Twitter applications.
