A Maverick County Grand Jury has indicted three Eagle Passans-Cesar Perez, Martha Zamarripa, and Elisa Martinez- for criminal charges including engaging in organized criminal activity and theft by a public servant on December 14, 2012, in the 365th Judicial District Court of Maverick County, Texas. The presiding judge of the 365th Judicial District Court is Honorable Amado Abascal, III.
The State of Texas is being represented by the Office of the Attorney General of Texas. The Texas Attorney General Office is prosecuting this criminal case against the three accused Defendants.
Attempts by the Eagle Pass Business Journal to obtain a copy of the criminal indictment in Cause No. 12-12-07159-MCRAJA from the Maverick County District Clerk’s Office were unsuccessful as Deputy District Clerk staff advised the newspaper that their office was still processing the case and they could not provide a copy of the indictment until they completed processing the paperwork despite the case being already filed of record in the Maverick County District Clerk’s Criminal Docket Book Number 6 reflecting the style of the case, case number, the date filed with the District Clerk’s Office (12-14-12), the general description of of the charges in the indictment, the Court assigned to the case, and the accused Defendants’ names. The District Clerk’s staff directed the Eagle Pass Business Journal to the 293rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office to obtain a copy of the indictment.
The Eagle Pass Business Journal went to the 293rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office to obtain a copy of the indictment but was told that the case was being handled by the Office of the Attorney General of Texas and did not have a copy of the indictment and to contact the Attorney General’s Office for a copy.
The Eagle Pass Business Journal will continue its efforts to obtain a copy of the indictment to give its loyal readers the full information and specifics of this criminal indictment and case.
A criminal indictment are merely allegations of wrongdoing and is not proof of a Defendant’s guilt. Every Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court at law.
