Tom Schmerber sworn-in as new Maverick County Sheriff

Newly elected Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber was officially sworn-in on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at 4 p.m. in a ceremony presided by 365th Judicial District Court Judge Amado Abascal, III, at the Old Maverick County Courthouse, and Maverick County Judge David Saucedo administered Schmerber the oath of office.
“I would like to thank the community for this opportunity to serve each and every one of the people who lives in Maverick County. There is no such thing as drawing lines, but rather we must now work together for the betterment of our community. I plan to be accountable in all aspects to the constituents of Maverick County. We are public servants for the public. Safety is the top priority and we are ready to begin this new endeavor to humbly serve and protect our community,” said newly sworn-in Maverick County Sheriff Schmerber.
Sheriff Schmerber stated he had named Ricardo “Rick” Fuentes as his Chief Deputy, Rodolfo “Rudy” Muniz as Chief Jail Administrator and Warrants Officer, Mario Rodriguez as his Budget Director, and Ignacio “Nacho” Saucedo as Federal and State Grants Director.
Sheriff Schmerber was accompanied by his wife, Blanca, and daughter together with family members, supporters, friends, and well-wishers at his swearing-in ceremony.
