25 Dead and Over 100 injured in PEMEX Tower explosion in Mexico City

Mexico’s Secretary of Government, Miguel Angel Osorio Chong, announced that as of 11 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013, there are 25 dead persons and over 100 persons injured in the intense explosion at the Petroleo Mexicanos (PEMEX) Headquarters Tower in Mexico City, Mexico, shocking the thousands of employees working in the administrative offices of the state-owned oil and gas enterprise.
The fierce explosion occurred at 3:55 p.m. and its cause is unknown qnd every theory is being investigated by experts, including the possibility of a terrorist attack It is too early for experts to determine the exact cause as emergency rescue crews are still searching for survivors and dead victims within the building debris and rubble.
All PEMEX facilities and buildings across the country have been placed on high alert to protect them from any terrorist attacks or similar explosions, utilizing the Mexican military and Navy Marines special forces.
Emergency rescue crews and explosion experts are working non-stop into the night and early morning to secure the disaster site and try to find the cause of the large explosion in Mexico’s tallest skyscraper.
Due to the unknown cause of the explosion, Mexico military and law enforcement authorities have been placed on high alert. American national security agencies are monitoring the latest developments in Mexico City to protect the United States from any potential terrorist attacks or similar explosions until the cause of the PEMEX Tower explosion is determined.
