Corpus Christi Man dies in motorcycle accident at Main & Veterans Blvd. intersection

The Eagle Ford Shale oil and gas boom has claimed another life as a Corpus Christi, Texas man, Richard Robert Sanchez, who worked in the Eagle Ford Shale, died in a motorcycle accident on Friday, February 22, 2013, at approximately 6 p.m. when the motorcycle he was test-driving collided with a Ford F-150 pick-up truck driven by Eagle Passan, Jose Maria Lopez, at the intersection of Main and Veterans Boulevard in Eagle Pass, Texas, announced Eagle Pass Police Chief Tony Castaneda.
The Eagle Ford Shale worker was visiting Eagle Pass seeking to buy a motorcycle which he was test driving at the time of the fatal accident.
According to Police Chief Castaneda, Sanchez was traveling south on Veterans Boulevard when entering the busy Main Street and Veterans Boulevard intersection when he collided on the motorcycle with Lopez’s Ford F-150 pick-up truck which was traveling north at the same intersection and making a left turn onto Main Street when the collision occurred, sustaining fatal injuries to his body. Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 Teresa Melendrez was summoned to the scene of the accident where she pronounced Sanchez dead.
The motorcycle and pick-up accident caused traffic at the Main Street and Veterans Boulevard intersection to a screeching halt and be redirected by Eagle Pass Police Department officers.
The accident remains under investigation by the Eagle Pass Police Department.
