Gallego and Staff Conclude First Tour of CD 23
Washington, D.C. — Congressman Pete Gallego (TX-23) and his staff yesterday finished their first needs assessment tour of Congressional District 23 – covering 20 of the 29 counties in CD 23 over a ten day period.
“I wanted my staff to travel across the district to meet and see the people for whom they work,” said Congressman Gallego. Every county has different characteristics and different needs. The people who work for this district need to understand it.”
Congressman Gallego and his staff met with local and county elected officials and constituents across 20 counties. They visited Mission Espada, Big Bend National Park, and the Eagle Pass, Del Rio, Presidio, and Fabens Port of Entries. They toured Palo Alto College, Sul Ross State University, and the Texas A&M Agrilife extensions in Uvalde and Socorro, TX.
They also visited Laughlin Air Force Base in Uvalde and Fort Bliss in El Paso where they were briefed by military leaders.
“It’s important to meet with local and county leaders and hear the needs directly from them so that we can best serve the area in Congress,” added Congressman Gallego. “It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to represent the people of the 23rd congressional district. It’s not an opportunity I take lightly and I will work my hardest to make them proud.”
Counties covered on the first needs assessment tour were: Brewster, Bexar, Crockett, Culberson, Dimmit, El Paso, Frio, Hudspeth, Jeff David, Kinney, La Salle, Maverick, Medina, Pecos, Presidio, Sutton, Uvalde, Val Verde, Ward, and Zavala.
