Lady Eagles garner San Antonio Northside ISD softball championship

The Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles garnered the prestigious San Antonio Northside Independent School District Softball Tournament Championship in San Antonio, Texas, during February 15-16, 2013, going undefeated in the tournament with a 4-0 record.
On Friday, February 15th, the Lady Eagles opened tournament play against the Schertz-Cibolo Steele High School Lady Knights and jumped to an early 9 to 0 lead in the first inning with clutch hits by juniors Sandra Mendoza and Monica Flores and sophomore southpaw Krystal De La Cruz dominated the Lady Knights batters to win the game by a score of 10 to 8.
In their second tournament game on Friday, February 15th, the Lady Eagles defeated the San Antonio Clark High School Lady Cougars by a score of 9 to 2 riding the left-arm of pitcher Krystal De La Cruz who muzzled the mighty Lady Cougars hitters and key hitting by Sandra Mendoza, Monica Flores, Keanna Cisneros, and Flerida Castillon.
On Saturday, February 16th, the Lady Eagles continued their winning streak against the San Antonio Alamo Heights High School Lady Mules by the score of 11 to 4 with the tandem pitching of Krystal De La Cruz and Samantha De Leon and sizzling bats of Krystal Perez, Samantha Fuentes, Vivian Ramirez, Melanie Mendoza, Monica Flores, and Krystal De La Cruz.
In their fourth tournament game on Saturday, February 16th, the Lady Eagles crushed the San Antonio Brennan High School Lady Bears by the score of 20 to 0 to go undefeated in the elite Northside ISD softball tournament on the strong arm of Lady Eagle hurler Samantha De Leon who shutout the Lady Bears bombers and key hits off the bats of Lady Eagles Sandra Mendoza, Keanna Cisneros, Samantha Fuentes, Jessica Garcia, Monica Flores, Nina Flores, and Dariela Velasquez.
The Lady Eagles next play the always talented San Antonio Southwest High School Lady Dragons on Tuesday, February 19th, at 7:00 p.m. in San Antonio, Texas.
