Pope Benedict XVI resigns effective February 28th

Pope Benedict XVI of the Holy See and the State of the Vatican City, the Roman Catholic highest religious leader, announced on Monday, February 11, 2013, that he is resigning his post as the Holy Pope of the Roman Catholic Church effective February 28, 2013, due to his advanced age and lack of strength to carry on the extremely busy schedule and duties of the office of Pope after a long and thought provoking decision.
Pope Benedict XVI stated it was in the best interests of the Roman Catholic Church to have an orderly and efficient transition. He thanked all the loyal Roman Catholics for supporting him during his tenure as Pope of the Roman Catholic Church.
A successor Pope will be named by the Roman Catholic Church by March l, 2013.
