San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro to Headline 19th Annual Eagle Pass Business Journal Awards

San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro will headline the 19th Annual Eagle Pass Business Journal Awards as the keynote speaker on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. at the El Residencial Reception Hall in Eagle Pass, announced Ricardo E. Calderon, Publisher of the Eagle Pass Business Journal.
“Mayor Julian Castro is excited to participate in the premier community awards in Eagle Pass and Middle Rio Grande region. Mayor Castro is one of the most promising and progressive American politicians after presenting the keynote speech at the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina,” Calderon said.
“Eagle Pass is very fortunate to be able to host Mayor Castro for a day and discuss with him how to improve San Antonio and Eagle Pass trade relations. Mayor Castro looks forward to meeting the citizens of Eagle Pass and Middle Rio Grande region. He just announced that he is seeking re-election for Mayor of the City of San Antonio on May 11th,” Calderon said.
Mayor Castro is a graduate of Stanford University, where he received a Bachelor of Art degree, and the Harvard University School of Law, where he received a Juris Doctor degree.
A total of 18 award categories and a Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to local and regional individuals, businesses, and organizations who excelled in their professional endeavors and made significant positive contributions to the community.
