Sara Ines Calderón nominated for New Americano Award

As March fast approaches and the Social Revolution makes its way to the Texas State Capitol in Austin, South by Southwest Festival will be held during March 8-17, 2013. Highlighted during this prestigious event is the New Americano Award which honors and recognizes the top Hispanic leadership and innovative social media and the technology trendsetters throughout the United States who are impacting the Hispanic market online.
“We must keep the movement alive and the more people know about the ongoing work of Latinos, the more opportunities and doors will open for our communities,” said Mando Rayo, VP of Engagement at Cultural Strategies, the firm that puts on the event in Austin, Texas.
Sara Ines Calderon; founder and editor of MasWired.Com, an online news and technology hub, that highlight’s the significant contributions of Latinos in the United States and world in the digital world has been nominated for the prestigious New Americano Award at the South by Southwest Festival.
Sara Ines Calderón has roots in Eagle Pass as she is the daughter of native Eagle Passans Cynthia Schuessler(Class of 1975) and Dr. Roberto R. Calderón(Class of 1974).
“We created Más Wired to show the incredible contributions Latinos are making in the digital space,” said Calderón.
Calderon is also the Director of Social Media and Community Relations of MiTú, a YouTube network focusing on Latina Lifestyle and a contributor at Politic 365 which is a website that focuses on political views of minorities. She was also the City Editor at The Sacramento Valley Mirror, a News Reporter at the Brownsville Herald, and a News Journalist at the San Antonio Express News from 2007 to 2009.
Calderón’s roots are deeply imbedded in the heart and soul of the Latino Culture .She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Stanford University and later earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Calderón was also editor for News Taco.com, an online news source catering to different news about the Latino community online.

It brings together all types of music, the biggest names in band and homegrown bands on one stage. The festival brings out the best technology companies to one veue to show off their latest technology ideas and innovations. Video game companies also show their latest games.
