Visiting State District Judge Dick Alcala granted a temporary suspension of Maverick County Commissioners Eliaz Maldonado of Precinct One and Rudy Heredia of Precinct Two and appointed Javier Libson as temporary County Commissioner of Precinct One and Daniela Flores-Aleman as temporary County Commissioner of Precinct Two on Monday, February 11, 2013, at a Court hearing held in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Javier Libson is an Eagle Pass businessman and manages several family-owned businesses.
Daniela Flores-Aleman is news director of a local radio station and a graduate of Texas A&M University-College Station. Flores-Aleman becomes the first woman to serve on the Maverick County Commissioner’s Court as a County Commissioner except for former Maverick County Judge Enriqueta Diaz-Carpenter who was elected to the County Judge position as a write-in candidate during the 1990’s.
Libson and Flores-Aleman will have to post a bond and take an oath of office before taking their temporary County Commissioners positions until further Court order or an election is held.
