Eduardo De La Garza to plead guilty in federal bribery case

Eagle Passan Eduardo De La Garza, who was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 19, 2012 for paying a bribe to a Maverick County Commissioner regarding a Maverick County construction contract, will be pleading guilty on March 20, 2013 before United States Magistrate Judge Victor Roberto Garcia of the Western District of Texas, Del Rio Division, in Del Rio, Texas.
De La Garza, a general contractor, received a bid to perform a construction contract for Maverick County and paid a Maverick County Commissioner a bribe or kickback in exchange for being awarded the contract.
De La Garza’s case is one of several bribery and corruption cases brought by a joint investigation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Texas Department of Public Safety (Texas Rangers) regarding Maverick County construction contracts.
