Maverick County Commissioner Cesar Flores tenders letter of resignation effective March 15th

Maverick County Commissioner Cesar Flores of Precinct 4 formally tendered his letter of resignation of his publicly elected position on Monday, March 11, 2013 to Maverick County Judge David Saucedo to become effective March 15th.
County Commissioner Cesar Flores earlier read his letter of resignation on January 31, 2013 at a Maverick County Commissioners Court meeting to become effective March 15th. County Commissioner Flores has served as Precinct 4 Commissioner for 14 years.
Commissioner Flores was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 16th on five counts of receiving bribes from contractors receiving Maverick County construction contracts and has plead not guilty to these federal charges.
Commissioner Flores federal bribery case has been reset for Docket Call and Re-Arraignment on April 9th at 9:00 a.m. before United States District Judge Alia Moses of the Western District of Texas, Del Rio Division, in Del Rio, Texas.
Commissioner Flores’ case is one of several cases filed arising from a joint investigation of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Texas Department of Public Safety (Texas Rangers) regarding bribery and corruption concerning Maverick County construction contracts.
Maverick County Judge David Saucedo will appoint a new successor County Commissioner for Precinct 4 pursuant to the authority vested in the County Judge by the Texas Local Government Code. Last week, County Judge Saucedo appointed local businessman Jerry Morales as County Commissioner of Precinct 1 after former County Commissioner Eliaz Maldonado’s resignation on March 1st.
All persons indicted by a federal grand jury are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a Court-at-Law.
