Mexican military and Navy Marines conduct intense operations in Piedras Negras, Coahuila
According to Mexican press reports, the Mexican military, elite Navy Marines, and federal police are conducting intense and secretive operations in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, a city of over 200,000 people on the United States-Mexico border opposite of Eagle Pass, Texas, during the late evening hours of Thursday, February 28, 2013, and into the early morning of Friday, March 1st.
Piedras Negras, Coahuila citizens report via social media that at least one Navy Marine airplane and several helicopters began flying over the city at approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 28th and into 6 a.m. on Friday, March lst.
The airplane is described as medium in size with two propellers flying low within the urban and metropolitan zones of Piedras Negras, Coahuila. Some observers believe the aircraft is conducting military intelligence and may be a drone-like plane. Several helicopters were also observed flying low in the city of Piedras Negras, Coahuila.
In addition to the airplane and helicopters, ten to fifteen military vehicles with Mexican Navy Marines and military soldiers conducted several raids on private residences throughout several neighborhoods within the city of Piedras Negras, Coahuila.
The Piedras Negras, Coahuila International Airport was closed to the public due to national security reasons and to allow a clear path for the Navy Marine aircraft and helicopters hovering over the city.
Piedras Negras, Coahuila citizens were alarmed and shocked to see the intense Mexican Navy Marines and military operations develop before their very own eyes under the mask of darkness, seeking shelter in their homes. One Piedras Negras citizen described the night operations like those out of an action movie.
American federal and state law enforcement authorities were placed on high alert to prevent any of the operations from crossing into Eagle Pass, Texas and the United States.
