14 EPHS Seniors Receive National and Statewide Scholarships

Eagle Pass High School Principal Rudy Bowles announced that 14 Eagle Pass High School seniors have received national and statewide scholarships to date. Bowles stated that he expects more students to receive scholarships but these 14 students are off to a great start for the class of 2013.
Five students were named Gates Millennium Scholars including Andrea Lissette Pantoja, Hector Cruz, Maximo Gonzalez, Daniela Rosiles, and April Trevino. The Gates Millennium Scholarship pays for each student’s unmet financial aid need from undergraduate to graduate school for a total of 10 years.
Two students received the Terry Foundation Scholarship which awards up to $80,000 for their undergraduate studies including Luis Cabrera and Andrea Lissette Pantaja.
Eight students received the GeoForce Scholarship which awards up to $27,000 per year for a total of four years of undergraduate studies including Isaak Ruiz, Jessica Valdez , Zelinda Lombrana, Alejandra Garcia, Judith Gonzalez, Laura Gloria, Roberto Espinosa, Linda Leticia Correa.
One student also received the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation Scholarship, Alejandra Garcia.
Bowles stated that he is very proud of each of these students as well as all of the class of 2013 graduates because this is his last graduating class as Principal since he is retiring in June after 40 years as an educator, including eight years as Principal of Eagle Pass High School, seven years as Principal of Eagle Pass Junior High, and one year as Assistant Principal at Memorial Junior High.
