Brackettville family loses 4 members in fiery crash in San Antonio

A Brackettville, Texas family of five lost four members in a fiery head-on collision with an 18-wheeler tractor trailer on Saturday night, April 13, 2013, at approximately midnight while returning from a successful University Interscholastic League One Act Play Competition at John Marshall High School in San Antonio, Texas enroute to their home in Brackettville on Highway 90 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.
Perished in the horrific head-on collision were Kenneth Koontz and his wife, Melissa Koontz, and their two daughters, Madison and Marley Ann Koontz. The lone family survivor was their younger son, Zachary Koontz.
Charged with four counts of intoxication manslaughter is the driver, Ruben Galindo, age 60, of the 18-wheeler tractor trailer from Carrollton, Texas. Galindo remained in custody with a $1 million bond set on him, which he was unable to post.
Sisters Madison, a senior, and Marley Ann, a freshman, at Brackettville High School had just earlier participated in a regional One Act Play competition in San Antonio, where Madison was named to the prestigious All-Star Cast for her acting performance with her school play.
The tragedy has hit the community of Brackettville and Kinney County, Texas hard as the entire Koontz family were exemplary parents, children, and students. The small Southwest Texas community on Highway 90 between Uvalde and Del Rio, Texas was deeply saddened and mourning upon learning of the demise of the four Koontz family members in the tragic accident.
