Bruce Mills named Eagle Pass Interim Police Chief

The City of Eagle Pass, Texas interim City Manager Gloria Barrientos-Martinez named Bruce Mills of Austin, Texas as the new interim Chief of Police for the Eagle Pass Police Department at a press conference on Monday, April 22, 2013.
Mills has over 36 years of experience in law enforcement in Austin, Texas. He earned a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University, in San Marcos, Texas. He also is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute’s School of Justice Administration.
Mills experience includes formerly being the City of Austin’s Director of Public Safety and Emergency Management, Chief of Police of the City of Austin Bergstrom International Airport, Assistant Chief of Police of the City of Austin Police Department, and many other assignments within the City of Austin Police Department. He also has served as interim Director of the City of Austin Animal Sciences Department.
Mills stated that he is pleased and honored to be named the Interim Chief of Police for the City of Eagle Pass Police Department and looks forward to serving the citizens of Eagle Pass and working with the Eagle Pass Police Department officers and staff.
Mills stated that he had already met with Interim City Manager Gloria Barrientos-Martinez and the three Eagle Pass Police Department Lieutenants, including Aldo Escamilla, Moises Pena, and Alejandro Guedea, to assess the needs of the community and police department and to
protect and serve the citizens of Eagle Pass.
Eagle Pass Interim City Manager Gloria Barrientos-Martinez stated that she looks forward to working with Bruce Mills and improving the Eagle Pass Police Department and serving the community.
