The Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees have added an emergency item on their agenda for today’s regular board meeting, May 14, 2013, regarding an executive session item concerning consultation with legal counsel regarding possible legal action relating to the U.I.L.’s decision to reduce the softball playoff between Eagle Pass High School and San Benito High School to a one game series and then an open session item regarding consideration and possible action to authorize legal action against U.I.L. and related parties.
The Lady Eagles best of three Regional Quarter-Finals Championship series was reduced to a one game playoff series on Saturday, May 11th, by Peter Contreras of U.I.L. who required the lightning suspended game on Friday, May 10th, to complete said game on Saturday, May 11th, with the winner advancing to the next round of the Regional Semi-Finals Championship against the San Antonio O’Connor High School Lady Panthers over the objection and protest of Eagle Pass High School Principal Rudy Bowles and Head Softball Coach Oscar Ruiz. The San Benito Lady Hounds prevailed in the one game lightning suspended game by the score of 2-0 and advancing to play San Antonio O’Connor.
