Lady Eagles eliminated by San Benito Lady Hounds in One Game Lightning Shortened Playoff Series

The mighty Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles varsity softball team were eliminated by the heralded San Benitio High School Lady Hounds 2-0 in a one game lightning shortened regional quarter-final championship series on Saturday, May 11th, at the Laredo United ISD Student Activity Complex Softball Field.
Both teams were required to complete yesterday’s Game One which was suspended and called off by the home plate umpire in the top of the sixth inning with one out and San Benito batting with a runner at second base due to a second lightning delay in the first of a best of three series. However, U.I.L. Informed both teams they needed to complete the suspended and called off game today with the winner advancing to the next round, regional semi-finals, canceling the best of three series format.
Congratulations to the Eagle Pass Lady Eagles on an outstanding season and winning the District 29-5A Championship, Bi-District Championship, Area Championship, and being Regional Quarter-Finalists under Head Softball Coach Oscar Ruiz and Assistant Coaches Ricky Ruiz, Sauk Salas, J.J. Iracheta, and Carlos Rodriguez.
