Carrizo Springs City Manager killed in fatal auto accident in Dimmit County
Dimmit County has seen many fatal highway accidents since the development of the Eagle Ford Shale oil and gas play within the last three years. However, none has caused as much consternation and grief as the fatal accident on Highway 83 today, June 11, 2013 at approximately 7:30 am which claimed the life of the City of Carrizo Springs, Texas City Manager Ramiro Muñoz, age 59. The accident occurred on Highway 83 as it involved Muñoz’s Ford Pickup truck which was hit by a heavy duty cement work truck causing fatal injuries to Muñoz. Due to the critical injuries sustained by Muñoz in the accident, he was air-lifted to a San Antonio, Texas medical facility for emergency treatment. Shortly after his arrival at the San Antonio medical facility, Muñoz succumbed to the fatal injuries he suffered in the accident and passed away. The community of Carrizo Springs and Dimmit County mourn the tragic loss of their beloved City Manager Ramiro Muñoz today as a result of another fatal accident within the Eagle Ford Shale.
