Jose Telles, Jr. pleads guilty to bribery in federal court

Eagle Passan Jose Telles, Jr. pleaded guilty today, Wednesday, June 12, 2013, to one count of a federal grand jury indictment charging him with bribery of an agent of an organization receiving federal funds before United States Magistrate Judge Victor Roberto Garcia of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, Del Rio Division, in Del Rio, Texas.
Telles faces a prison sentence of up to 10 years, a fine of up to $250,000, up to three years of supervised release, and a special assessment fee of $100.
Telles is charged with having paid a bribe to a Maverick County official and/or representative in order to obtain a Maverick County construction contract.
Telles is currently out from federal court on bond.
A combined U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers criminal investigation of corruption and fraud in Maverick County led to Telles’ indictment and arrest.
