Maverick County Emergency Operation Center Announces Opening of Emergency Shelters & Telephone Numbers
Maverick County officials held a press conference on Friday, June 14th, 2013 to establish communication with the community regarding the severe weather that affected Maverick County during the past 12 hours, a rainfall estimated between five to six inches.
Maverick County Judge David Saucedo and other county officials addressed questions of concern such as flood damage, shelters, emergency phone numbers, and public telephone numbers which may help the community obtain relief from the damages they or their property sustained during the severe thunderstorms that afflicted the community.
The telephone number for the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department is (830) 773-2321. Sheriff Tom Schmerber recommends that any person within the county affected by the flooding or thunderstorms should call the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department for any assistance necessary.
Emergency shelters have been opened at the following locations: Precinct 2 – The Nick Carr Center located at 253 Ruela Street and Precinct 3 – Seco Mines Community Center located at 2989 Sanchez Avenue. Any Maverick County resident affected by today’s fierce thunderstorms and requiring assistance may go to either one of these two emergency shelters for relief or temporary shelter and food.

Maverick County Judge David Saucedo advises Maverick County residents to stay safe and assured them that the County together with the City of Eagle Pass are working to provide assistance to anyone who was affected by the thunderstorms, flooding, and severe weather.
For residents of the City of Eagle Pass, they may contact the Eagle Pass Police Department at (830) 773-9044. The City of Eagle Pass has opened an emergency shelter at the San Luis Center located at 1490 Williams Street and their telephone number is (830) 757-6449.
