Eagle Pass Eagles collared by Laredo Alexander Bulldogs 42-14

The Eagle Pass High School Eagles traveled to Laredo, Texas to open their 2013 District 29-5A play against the perennially tough Laredo Alexander High School Bulldogs on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at the Laredo United Independent School District Student Activity Complex falling to the Bulldogs 42-14.
The Laredo Alexander Bulldogs pass happy offense quickly surprised and scored three touchdowns against the Eagle Pass Eagles defense to take a 20-0 lead in the first quarter, which the Bulldogs would never relinquish in the game. The first Bulldogs touchdown came on a 23 yard pass from quarterback Brian Swain to wide receiver Marc Losoya with 9:55 left in the first quarter and the extra point was good. The second Bulldogs score came on a 44 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brian Swain to Marc Losoya again and the extra point was good with 3:48 left in the first period. The third Bulldogs strike came on another touchdown pass from quarterback Brian Swain to wide receiver Travis Allen with 2:24 left in the first stanza and the extra point failed.
The Laredo Alexander Bulldogs added another touchdown in the second quarter to take a 28-0 lead over the Eagles while the stout Bulldogs defense held the Eagles offense scoreless during the first half of the game, taking a solid 28-0 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs scored on a 16 yard touchdown run by standout Bulldogs running back Xavione Skaggs with 58 seconds left in the second quarter and Skaggs scored the two point conversion on a three yard run.
In the second half, the Eagles scored two touchdowns while the Bulldogs just kept on scoring on the Eagles defense another two touchdowns or 14 points to collar the Eagles with the 42-14 defeat in the District 29-5A opener for both teams. The Eagles scored on a dazzling 59 yard touchdown run by standout Eagles quarterback Ty Chisum with 3:20 left in the fourth period and the point after attempt was good to avert a shut out. The Eagles scored again on a one yard scamper by Eagles quarterback Ty Chisum and the extra point was good with 15 seconds left in the game to make it 42 to 14 in favor of the Bulldogs.
The Eagle Pass Eagles fall to 0-4 overall in the season and 0-1 in District 29-5A play with the Laredo Alexander loss.
The Eagles will host the Laredo United South Panthers on Friday, October 4th, at 7:30 P.M. at home during the 2013 Eagle Pass High School Homecoming festivities and will seek their first season and district victory of the year. Go Eagles!
