The Eagle Pass High School Eagles were branded by the home standing Alamo Heights High School Mules 37 to 12 on Friday, September 13, 2013, at Alamo Heights Stadium in San Antonio, Texas in a non-district football game, falling to 0-3 overall in the season.
The Alamo Heights Mules exploded for 21 unanswered points in the first quarter to take a 21-0 lead over the visiting Eagle Pass Eagles which they would never relinquish throughout the game. The Mules added another nine points in the second quarter taking a comfortable 30-6 lead into halftime.
Both teams scored a touchdown each in the second half to close the scoring at 37-12 and a victory for the Mules. The Eagles offense was sluggish in the first half while the defense struggled with the fast and strong Mules offense.
The Eagles defense made key adjustments at halftime to limit the explosive Mules offense to only seven points in the second half while the Eagles offense played better in the second half.
The Eagle Pass Eagles are open next week and will use the extra practice time to work on offense and defense weaknesses and strengths before opening District 29-5A football play on Thursday, September 26th, against the always tough Laredo Alexander High School Bulldogs at the Laredo United Independent School District Student Activity Complex at 7 P.M.
