Gallego Hosts Third Bipartisan Texas Delegation Meeting
Washington, D.C.: Congressman Pete. P Gallego (TX-23) today hosted the third bipartisan meeting of the Texas Congressional Delegation. Topics discussed included transportation, land and sea ports as well as ports of entry, and federal funding for Texas.
“Texans expect solutions,” said Congressman Gallego. “These breakfasts are an important venue for informal discussions on what we can do for Texas when we work together. All our families, especially military and middle class families, are better served when we work towards a common goal.”
Previously, the Texas delegation did not regularly meet as a group. In April, Congressman Gallego invited five of his colleagues who had previously served in the Texas Legislature to join him in re-instituting the delegation meetings. Together, they sent a letter inviting the full Texas delegation to join together for a meal. In the letter, they wrote,
“There are many areas where Texas can serve as a model for the rest of the country. Since Texans believe in leading by example we are pleased to write you today in a bipartisan effort to show how Democrats and Republicans can get together now and throughout this session.”
Aside from Congressman Gallego, the members in attendance at this morning’s meeting were: Reps. Michael Burgess, Gene Green, Jeb Hensarling, Eddie Bernice Johnson, Sheila Jackson Lee, Randy Neaugebauer, Pete Olson, Beto O’Rourke, Steve Stockman, Randy Weber, and Roger Williams.
