Eagle Pass attorney, Gloria E. Hernandez, was officially sworn-in as the new City Councilwoman of Place 1 of the City of Eagle Pass City Council on Monday, September 23, 2013, at the Eagle Pass City Council Chambers after winning the special City Council election on September 14th to replace former Mayor Pro-Tem Asalia Casares, who resigned after being appointed Maverick County Commissioner of Precinct 2.
City Councilwoman Gloria E. Hernandez thanked all the Eagle Pass citizens who supported her and took the time to go vote during the September 14th election and stated she looks forward to working with Mayor Ramsey English Cantu and the City Council to bringing progress and economic development to Eagle Pass.
Hernandez easily defeated local entrepreneur Angelo Aguilera in the September 14th special City Council election by 554 to 183 votes in a low voter turnout.
Hernandez was joined by family members, friends, and supporters during her swearing-in ceremony celebrated at the Eagle Pass City Council Chambers.
After her swearing-in and City Council meeting, Hernandez celebrated her victory with her family, friends, and supporters at a local restaurant where she once again thanked them for their dedication and support in assisting her get elected to the Eagle Pass City Council.
