Maverick County and surrounding area farmers, ranchers, landowners, and producers are invited to attend a special information and training session by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Texas Farm Service Agency to learn more about the many financial programs and assistance available to rural farmers, ranchers, landowners, and producers from the USDA on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 4 P.M. at the Maverick County Extension Service Conference Room located inside the Maverick County Zan Mathies Show Barn, 2350 East Main Street, Eagle Pass, Texas, announced Judith A. Canales, State Executive Director of the USDA Texas Farm Service Agency.
“The USDA is conducting this Maverick County Agriculture Workshop with several partners to provide information to farmers, ranchers, landowners, producers, and the general public in Maverick County and surrounding areas about agriculture financial and technical assistance opportunities available through the USDA. USDA representatives and I will discuss financing and technical assistance opportunities for agriculture businesses and production, including a microloan program which was just introduced this year to assist beginning and small farmer operations,” said Canales.
“The Maverick County Agriculture Workshop is also being coordinated by the Texas-Mexico Border Coalition CBO, which is an organization whose members are farmers, ranchers, and producers in counties along the Texas-Mexico border,” added Canales.
Workshop topics include “Eligibility/Programs: How to sign up as an Agriculture Producer;” “Technical and Financial Assistance for the Agriculture Producers;” “Value Added Grants and Business and Industry Guarantee Programs;” “Brush Management Presentation;” and “Products and Services for Agriculture Producers.”
Admission to the Maverick County Agriculture Workshop is free and any person interested in attending should register with Johnny Graciano at (830) 776-0914 or Ivan Camacho at (361) 701-3232.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Maverick County and surrounding area farmers, ranchers, landowners, and producers to learn about the financial and technical assistance to them through their federal government and the USDA.
