Texas Water Development Board names Kevin Patteson executive administrator

AUSTIN – (September 19, 2013) – Today, the Texas Water Development Board announced its new executive administrator, Kevin Patteson.

“Kevin Patteson has the skill set and experiences that will help us move the State Water Plan forward and help our regional water planning groups prioritize water management strategies and projects,” said Board Chairman Carlos Rubinstein. “He has a demonstrated ability to understand and work with state and federal agencies in moving toward water project implementation.”

“I’m honored to have been selected as the Texas Water Development Board’s next executive administrator. I look forward to working with its staff to address our most vital resource—Texas water,” Patteson said.

Patteson currently serves as the executive director for the Office of State–Federal Relations, responsible for effectively representing Texas in Washington, DC. He was the special advisor on federal initiatives for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), acting as liaison between TCEQ and members of Congress on federal legislation and regulatory matters. He was also deputy general counsel for the Texas Workforce Commission and assistant general counsel/ethics advisor for the Office of Governor Rick Perry from 2002 to 2008.

Patteson holds Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees from Baylor University. He will begin serving as TWDB’s Executive Administrator on October 1, 2013.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the State Water Plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
