Alberto Guajardo named new Eagle Pass Chief of Police

The City of Eagle Pass, Texas City Manager Gloria Barrientos named Eagle Pass Police Department Detective Alberto Guajardo as the new Chief of Police of the Eagle Pass Police Department at a press conference held on Friday, October 17, 2013, at City Hall in Eagle Pass.
Guajardo was selected among 10 candidates for the Chief of Police post, including former Interim Police Chief Sam Granato. Guajardo was one of the lead detectives who investigated the City of Eagle Pass gasoline fraud case and secured five convictions arising from this case in federal court in Del Rio, Texas.
Barrientos welcomed Guajardo as the new Eagle Pass Police Department Chief of Police. Guajardo will be under the supervision of City Manager Gloria Barrientos. Interview Committee members included City Manager Gloria Barrientos, Mayor Ramsey English Cantu, City Councilman Rudy Villalpando, Fire Chief Jesus Rodriguez, and Municipal Court Judge Francisco Martinez, III.
City Manager Gloria Barrientos stated “I want to thank the Committee for their assistance with this very important selection for our community, our Police Department and the entire City organization.”
Guajardo thanked City Manager Gloria Barrientos for her trust and confidence as well as the Interview committee members. Guajardo vowed to protect and serve the citizens of Eagle Pass to the best of his abilities.
Eagle Pass Police Chief Alberto Guajardo is a graduate of Eagle Pass High School and has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master Peace Officer Certification with TCLEOSE. He served in the United States Army as a combat field medic, emergency medical technician, and CPR Instructor. Police Chief Alberto Guajardo has been with the Eagle Pass Police Department for ten years as a Police Officer and a Detective. He is a volunteer in many local civic and community organizations.
New Eagle Pass Chief of Police Alberto Guajardo joins his brother, Arturo Guajardo who is the 293rd Judicial District and Maverick County Chief Adult Probation Officer, in law enforcement. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Arturo Guajardo of Eagle Pass.
