City of Eagle Pass gasoline card fraud defendant Rene Castillo sentenced to 30 months

United States District Judge Alia Moses for the Western District of Texas, Del Rio Division, sentenced Eagle Passan, Rene Castillo, on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, in Del Rio, Texas, to 30 months imprisonment for pleading guilty in the City of Eagle Pass gasoline credit card fraud/theft case plus pay $19,000 in restitution to the City of Eagle Pass, a $100 special assessment fee, three years of community supervision upon completion of his prison term, and waived any fine against Castillo.
Castillo is the third of five defendants to be sentenced in the federal case involving the theft of over $68,000 in gasoline utilizing the City of Eagle Pass Public Works Department fuelman gasoline cards. Two co-defendants are awaiting to be sentenced, including Armando Ojeda-Nuncio and Ricardo Hernandez-Espinoza.
Mastermind Edgar Aguilar was sentenced to 42 months imprisonment, pay restitution of $68,373 to the City of Eagle Pass, a $100 special assessment fee, no fine, and three years of community supervision by U.S. District Judge Alia Moses.
Co-defendant Elizabeth Vivian was sentenced to 16 months, pay a fine of $3,000, a $100 special assessment fee, and three years of of community supervision by U.S. District Judge Alia Moses.
The United States Attorney’s Office represented the City of Eagle Pass and Assistant United States Attorney Timothy A. Duree prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States government.
