Eagle Pass Housing Authority Board hears update on disciplinary actions taken by Interim Executive Director at October regular meeting

The Housing Authority of Eagle Pass, Texas Board of Commissioners held their regular board meeting on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at 6 P.M. at the Community Room of El Centenario High-Rise Building in Eagle Pass, Texas.
According to Agenda Item No. 8 at the October 24th Eagle Pass Housing Authority meeting, the Board of Commissioners went into Executive Session pursuant to Section 551.071, Chapter 551 of the Texas Local Government Code, for a consultation with attorney to discuss personnel matters regarding an “Update on legal status of disciplinary actions taken by Interim Executive Director related to several employees as well as additional legal advice regarding employment, financial and contractual decisions and/or actions recently uncovered and made by Administration and staff which may have legal implications and/or financially affect the Housing Authority.”
The Eagle Pass Housing Authority’s Interim Executive Director is Eliza Cano and legal counsel is the law firm of Langley & Banack of San Antionio, Texas, which also has an office in Eagle Pass.
Since the Eagle Pass Housing Authority Board of Commissioners went into Executive Session to consult with their legal counsel regarding personnel matters, it is unknown to the public what are the disciplinary actions taken by Interim Executive Director Eliza Cano as to several employees and the reasons for taking such action. When the Board of Commissioners returned into Open Session, no action was taken by the Board of Commissioners.
In other Agenda items, the Eagle Pass Housing Authority Board of Commissioners approved to open the Low Rent four bedroom public housing units waiting list, authorized Interim Executive Director Eliza Cano to extend the Elevator Service Agreement with Thyssen Krupp Elevator Services for one year, authorized Interim Executive Director Eliza Cano to extend the Digital Copier Lease and Service Agreement with IKON Office Solutions, Inc., and approved Resolution No. 786 authorizing Fusion Advisors, Inc. regarding the transfer of employee retirement accounts.
The Eagle Pass Housing Authority Board of Commissioners include Chairperson Ana B. Gonzalez, Vice-Chairperson Jose Gonzalez, Pete Venegas, Delfina Garza Morales, and Ricardo E. Calderon.
