Gallego Recovers More Than $1.6 Million for Constituents
Washington, D.C.: Congressman Pete P. Gallego (TX-23) has recovered $1,683,928 in disputed benefits, credits or refunds for constituents during the first three quarters since taking office. That number includes more than $300,000 gained for veterans. Congressman Gallego has made casework – which includes assisting constituents in providing resources, assistance in agency paperwork and acting as a liaison with federal agencies – a priority in order to advocate effectively and efficiently for all constituents in the district.
“I’m very focused on services to constituents,” said Congressman Pete Gallego. “Our office is committed to helping constituents cut through red tape and bureaucracy at federal agencies. We empower our constituents by serving as their voice.”

“I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, but had not been reimbursed by the VA for my double mastectomy,” said Cody Fein from San Antonio. “It was a lengthy and unorganized process. After Congressman Gallego intervened, my claim was approved and I was reimbursed $27,318.”
In addition to recovering money for constituents, Congressman Gallego has also assisted constituents in many other matters.
“Some things don’t have a dollar amount value,” added Congressman Gallego. “Our office has helped to reinstate a passport office in a rural community, restore postal service to a neighborhood, helped members of the clergy with their visas, and helped a classroom of kids keep their science teacher.”
“Without Congressman Gallego’s intervention and assistance, our passport office would still be shuttered,” said Brewster County Judge Val Beard. “To the Congressman, we say thank you for delivering excellent constituent service.”
Ernesto Monte was initially refused pending a favorable adjudication for a waiver request from the Department of Homeland Security for a visa.
“Congressman Gallego helped one of our science teachers return to the classroom,” said Former Presidio School Board President Carlos Nieto. “Mr. Monte was having difficulty returning from the Philippines to Presidio, TX. Our students and our entire community of Presidio, Texas is grateful. This was truly a little miracle in the making against all odds but Congressman Gallego never gave up!”
