Maverick County officially has over 35 % of its residents who lack health care insurance and some local health care providers estimate that figure may be as high as 50 % unofficially. The beginning of the Affordable Care Act on October 1, 2013 is a godsend to Maverick Countians as well as Texans.

773-5358 and the Maverick County Hospital District at (830) 757-4990. Both UMC and the MCHD have been certified by the federal government to assist people to enroll in the health insurance coverage plans available through the Marketplace Exchange.
The federal government’s Health Insurance Marketplace will help you get coverage that meets your needs and fits your budget. Open enrollment starts October 1st. Coverage can start as soon as Janurary 1, 2014.
The national Republican Party opposes the Affordable Care Act and American residents enrolling in the federal health care insurance Marketplace that they forced the federal government be shut down on October 1st by failing to approve a continuing resolution to fund the federal budget causing millions of dollars of damages to the American economy and Americans” income.
The Republican Party is afraid that the Affordable Care Act will become a great success like it was in the State of Massachusetts.
President Barack Obama stated the Republicans shut down of the federal government is irresponsible and will hurt the American economy recovery. Former President Bill Clinton stated Republicans are wishing the American Economy fails by shutting down the federal government and insistence on defunding and repealing the Affordable Care Act.
Neither the Republican shut down of the federal government on October 1st nor their opposition to affordable health care insurance coverage for all Americans will derail the Affordable Care Act of 2010 and Americans enrolling in health care coverage insurance through the federal government’s Marketplace at www.HealthCare.gov.
