U.S. Border Patrolman involved in one vehicle accident in Maverick County

A United States Border Patrolman, whose name has not yet been identified, had a one vehicle rollover accident on U.S. Highway 277 North in Maverick County, Texas near Quemado on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at approximately 7:40 A.M., announced Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber. The preliminary investigation reveals that the U.S. Border Patrolman Chevrolet Tahoe SUV vehicle suffered a tire blowout while responding to a service call on U.S. Highway 277 North near mile marker 582. The Border Patrol vehicle and agent rolled over several times before landing upside down on its roof.
The U.S. Border Patrolman was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center in Eagle Pass, Texas for emergency medical treatment by the Eagle Pass Fire Department EMS. The U.S. Border Patrolman was airlifted to a San Antonio, Texas medical facility for additional medical treatment of his injuries.
The U.S. Border Patrolman’s Chevrolet Tahoe SUV rolled over several times before coming to a stop in the brush in the Dan Hughes Ranch on U.S. Highway 277 North. The Texas Department of Public Safety also responded to the accident.
The unidentified U.S. Border Patrolman is in serious condition at a San Antonio medical facility.
The one vehicle accident is under investigation by the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
