Former Maverick County Interim County Commissioner of Precinct 2, Daniela Renee Flores-Aleman, announced her registration as a candidate for County Commissioner of Precinct 2 with the Democratic Party for the March 4, 2014 Texas Primary Election on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at her residence on Austin Street surrounded by her husband, family, friends, and supporters.
Daniela Renee Flores-Aleman became a pioneer in Maverick County politics by becoming the first woman to serve as a Maverick County Commissioner in 2013 after being appointed Interim County Commissioner by visiting State District Judge Dick Alcala after the State of Texas filed a petition to remove then County Commissioner of Precinct 2 Rudy Heredia as a result of him being indicted by a federal grand jury and subsequent plea of guilty to one count of wrongdoing. Flores-Aleman quickly became an independent and intelligent voice on Commissioners Court during her brief stint as Interim County Commissioner. Flores-Aleman was replaced by former Eagle Pass Mayor Pro-Tem Asalia Casares who was appointed to the same post of County Commissioner of Precinct 2 by Maverick County Judge David Saucedo and ratified by Commissioners Court.
Flores-Aleman seeks to offer sustainable solutions to the current financial and corruption problems afflicting Maverick County. Flores-Aleman offered to be an independent voice and an advocate for fiscal responsibility if elected as County Commissioner of Precinct 2 with the best interests of Maverick County residents in mind. Flores-Aleman has leadership and Commissioners Court experience and would like to continue serving the people of Precinct 2 and Maverick County.
A graduate of Texas A & M University-College Station with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Communications in 2006, Flores-Aleman briefly attended Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law and worked as a news reporter with a local radio station. Currently, she is studying toward her Master of Business Administration degree from Sul Ross State University and is an avid community volunteer, including Project Companion, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding adopted homes, spay and neutering of pets,so less animals are euthanized.
The Democratic Party Primary Election will be on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, with early voting period starting on February 18th and continuing until February 28th.
