Eagle Pass City Council re-appoints Mayor Pro-Tem Luis E. Sifuentes to Maverick County Appraisal District

The City of Eagle Pass, Texas City Council re-appointed Mayor Pro-Tem Luis E. Sifuentes as the City’s representative on the Maverick County Appraisal District Board of Directors among several items approved at their regular meeting held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the City Council Chambers in Eagle Pass.
Another agenda item discussed at the November 5th meeting, the City Council learned that the Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 1 facade development contractor, F.A. Construction, is requesting a second amendment to its original contract calling for an additional $31,000 in funds to complete the facade construction project, which has been delayed due to several issues and has experienced cost increases from its original estimate. Three LED lights will be added to the facade to illuminate the bridge’s sign during night time. The International Bridge No. 1 construction project remains uncompleted at the present time.
The City Council approved and authorized Eagle Pass City Manager Gloria Barrientos to apply for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) with the Texas Community Development Block Grant Office for Disaster Relief to assist the City of Eagle Pass reconstruct damages caused to the city’s infrastructure as a result of the June 14-15, 2013 flood.
City Manager Gloria Barrientos also presented to the City Council the City’s Employees Compensation Plan for discussion and the employees pay plan will be further discussed in greater detail at the November 19th City Council special meeting with the goal to approve and implement the compensation plan before the end of December 2013.
Another agenda item approved was the construction of pedestrian lighting improvements on the sidewalks of Spur 240, also known as the intersection of Commercial and Main streets, together with the Texas Department of Transportation.
The Eagle Pass City Council includes Mayor Ramsey English Cantu, Mayor Pro-Tem Luis E. Sifuentes, and Council Members Rudy Villalpando, William “Billy” Davis, and Gloria E. Hernandez.
