South Texas Blood Bank to Host Blood Drive in Eagle Pass
SAN ANTONIO – Throughout the holidays, people tend to be busier than usual. Visiting family, having company come over, shopping, and other activities fill one’s schedule. And because over 20 percent of South Texas blood donors consist of high school and college students, the community supply tends to experience a drop in donations during this time of year.
Yet the need for blood donors never goes away. You can make the difference to patients this December by giving an hour of your time to donate blood. You can give the best gift a patient is waiting for – the gift of life.
All presenting donors in December will be automatically entered to win one of two $500 Southwest Airlines gift cards. Donate blood at one of these upcoming drives:
Eagle Pass:
Maverick Arms
Friday, Dec. 13; from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
1001 Industrial Blvd.
Eagle Pass High School
Tuesday, Dec. 17; from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
2020 2nd Street
Donors must present identification. Anyone who is 16 years old weighing 120 pounds (with parental consent form), or at least 17 years old weighing 110 pounds and in good general health may donate blood. All donors receive refreshments, a mini-physical and are encouraged to eat before and after donation. Learn more about blood donation at www.southtexasblood.org or call 800-292-5534.
