Border Patrolman acquitted of sexual abuse of child earlier this year commits suicide

United States Border Patrolman Brian Edward Phipps who earlier this year on September 13th was acquitted of 22 counts of aggravated continuos sexual abuse of a young child by a Maverick County, Texas jury in the 293rd Judicial District Court in Eagle Pass, Texas tragically committed suicide by a gunshot on Sunday, December 29, 2013, in Dimmit County, Texas, announced 293rd Judicial District Attorney Roberto Serna.
The death of U.S. Border Patrolman Brian Edward Phipps is under investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Texas Rangers, and the Dimmit County Sheriff’s Department.
It is not known what may have motivated or caused Phipps to take his life on December 29th, only three and one-half months after winning a full acquittal in a State of Texas district court of all 22 counts charged against him in the indictment.
The tragic news of Border Patrolman Brian Edward Phipps demise saddened the U.S. Border Patrol community as well as family, friends, and co-workers in Eagle Pass and Carrizo Springs, Texas.
