The City of Eagle Pass Public Children’s Library celebrated the Christmas holiday season with a visit from Santa Claus and a traditional Posada complete with pinatas, candies, gifts, and delicious food and refreshments on Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Fort Duncan Park in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Over 25 children and their parents participated in the Christmas posada and enjoyed visiting Santa Claus and reading him their Christmas Wish List. Santa Claus talked with the children, asked them if they had been naughty or nice during the past year, and presented each child a bag of candies and a gift. Each child had their photograph taken with Santa Claus, too.
The children enjoyed singing Christmas carols and going outdoors to break a pinata filled with candies and toys. Following the Christmas caroling and breaking of the pinata, Santa Claus provided the children and parents with a warm traditional Christmas meal including tamales, rice, beans, potato salad, cookies, and refreshments.
Eagle Pass retired U.S. Army veteran and former U.S. Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection Officer Albert Daniel did an outstanding performance as Santa Claus and brought many smiles and cheers to the children.
A grand time was enjoyed by all the children and parents who attended the 2013 Children’s Library Christmas Posada.
