Eagle Pass man shot in chest during Christmas-Eve

An Eagle Pass man, Juan Sanchez, age unknown, was shot on the chest on Christmas-eve, December 24, 2013, on Mesquite Street in the Chula Vista Subdivision in Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas, announced Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber.

Sanchez was celebrating Christmas-eve with his family when up to three individuals arrived and began an argument and opened gunfire on Sanchez striking him on the chest with a .38 caliber gun and the bullet entering and exiting his body.

Sanchez was rushed to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment and was later flown to a San Antonio, Texas hospital for surgery. Sanchez condition is unknown as of press time.

Sheriff Schmerber stated that the perpetrators of this shooting have been identified by witnesses and a warrant for their arrest have been issued and should be arrested in the coming days when located.

This shooting marred an otherwise calm Christmas season in Maverick County.
