Eagle Pass Woman murdered by Boyfriend

A young woman, Jessica Lenora Colecio, age 38, from Eagle Pass, Texas was brutally stabbed to death allegedly by her boyfriend, Jaime Jimenez, age 37, of Eagle Pass at approximately 1:31 A.M., Friday, December 6, 2013, at her boyfriend’s residence located at 1670 Bryan Street, in Eagle Pass, announced Eagle Pass Police Chief Alberto Guajardo.
The Eagle Pass Police Department received a telephone call for assistance at approximately 1:31 A.M. on December 6th and when Eagle Pass Police Officers arrived at 1670 Bryan Street they found inside the residence in a bedroom the body of Jessica Lenora Colecio covered in blood, unconscious and unresponsive with multiple stab wounds to her chest together with her boyfriend, Jaime Jimenez, lying next to her body on a mattress on the floor inside the bedroom. The Eagle Pass Police Officers determined that Jessica Lenora Colecio had expired and called the Eagle Pass Police Department Detective Division and the Texas Rangers to take over the investigation of the gruesome murder and crime scene.
The body of Jessica Lenora Colecio was pronounced dead by a Maverick County Justice of the Peace and transported to the Webb County Medical Examiner’s Office in Laredo, Texas for an autopsy. The suspect Jaime Jimenez was arrested and detained at the Maverick County Tom Bowles Law Enforcement Center to be charged with and magistrated for homicide.
This is the second domestic violence murder of an Eagle Pass woman by her male companion within the past two months, signaling what many women, children, parents, and professionals in the legal system have known that a serious domestic violence problem exists within the community of Eagle Pass and Maverick County, Texas.
On October 9, 2013, Homero Herrera allegedly murdered his wife, Blanca Herrera, at their residence at 213 Medina Street in Eagle Pass, Texas by multiple stab wounds caused by a small kitchen knife and then attempted to commit suicide using the same knife but failed to kill himself and seriously injuring himself. Homero Herrera is detained at the Maverick County Detention Center awaiting indictment by a state district court grand jury.
Eagle Pass Police Chief Alberto Guajardo immediately upon taking office as the new police chief in the community targeted the serious and dangerous domestic violence issue within Eagle Pass and advised the public that any person experiencing domestic violence problems should report them to the Eagle Pass Police Department at (830) 773-9044 or 911 as he is implementing a zero tolerance policy against domestic violence in the community. Domestic violence offenders will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, said Police Chief Alberto Guajardo.
The murder of Jessica Lenora Colecio is now under investigation by the Texas Rangers and the Eagle Pass Police Department Detective Division. Any person having any information regarding this tragic crime should contact the Eagle Pass Police Department at (830) 773-9044.
