Imelda Rodriguez named City of Eagle Pass City Secretary

City of Eagle Pass City Manager Gloria Barrientos announced on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at a City Hall press conference that she had selected Imelda Rodriguez as the new City Secretary to replace the vacancy created by former City Secretary Maria D. Velasquez when she was named the new Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the City of Eagle Pass, Texas.
Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English-Cantu also was present at Barrientos’ press conference naming Rodriguez as City Secretary. Barrientos pointed out that Imelda Rodriguez has been an employee of the City of Eagle Pass for four years, including stints at the Eagle Pass Police Department and the City Secretary’s office. Rodriguez briefly served as Interim City Secretary while the City of Eagle Pass announced the job opening and upon review of all of the applicants, City Manager Gloria Barrientos pegged Imelda Rodriguez to become the full-time City Secretary, a critical administration post within the City of Eagle Pass responsible for the efficient administration and coordination of all City records, City Council meetings and minutes, all City entities and committees, and the administration of City elections.
Barrientos cited Rodriguez’s exemplary record with the City of Eagle Pass during the past four years and her eagerness to learn and lead new tasks and responsibilities while managing several employees for her selection as the best qualified candidate for the position.
Rodriguez thanked City Manager Gloria Barrientos for her confidence and trust in her abilities and intelligence to become the new City Secretary for the City of Eagle Pass. Rodriguez also thanked her husband and children for their love and continuous support of her career.
Mayor Ramsey English-Cantu congratulated Imelda Rodriguez on her appointment as City Secretary and wished her the best in her new endeavors. Mayor Cantu also expressed looking forward to working with Rodriguez in the future and with City Council matters. Mayor Cantu welcomed Rodriguez to the City administration and commended City Manager Gloria Barrientos on an excellent choice for City Secretary.
